A New Type of Endoprosthesis Implanted at the MMA’s Traumatology and Orthopedics Clinic
20. 04. 2012
On April 20, 2012, the surgical team from the MMA’s Clinic for Traumatology and Orthopedics headed by Colonel Prof. Dr. Med. Zoran Popović implanted for the first time at the MMA a new hip endoprosthesis. It is an endoprosthesis with femoral stem whose anatomical curve saves the bone trochanteric region during the implantation procedure. This new type of stem is designed foe minimally invasive implantation approaches that have been introduced and applied in the clinical practice of the MMA’s orthopedic surgeons for several years already. Another advantage of this design is the possibility of reconstructing normal anatomy of the femur bone proximal end for the each individual patient.
